Sourcing
A story is only published when it has at least one of:
- a primary source: the company, agency, court, journal or organization that made the announcement or decision; or
- reporting from at least two independent news outlets.
Every article ends with a Sources list linking each page it was checked against. We do not publish rumors, leaks, predictions or unsourced claims.
Checking
- Every quote must appear word for word in a source.
- Every figure (prices, percentages, dates, counts) must match a source.
- A separate fact-check pass compares every claim in the article, including the "In brief" summary, against the sources.
- If a draft fails, it is revised using only the sources. If it still fails, it is not published.
- When sources disagree on a detail, we leave that detail out.
Attribution
What a company says about its own products, such as benchmark scores, speed or “best” claims, is reported as that company’s claim, not as fact. Lawsuits and accusations are reported as allegations until a court rules.
How AI is used
Hermes Vector uses AI to find stories, draft articles and run fact-checks against the source text. Every article says so at the bottom. Cover images are AI-generated illustrations; they never depict real people and are not photographs of events.
Advertising
The site is funded by advertising. Ads are labelled “Advertisement” and are supplied by an ad network, not chosen by us. Advertisers have no influence on which stories we cover or what they say, and we do not publish sponsored articles as news.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. See our corrections policy, or report an error.
